Scholarship Program - Program Criteria
Sanatan Mandir has been providing the scholarship program for the last two years. We are excited to be presenting this opportunity to High School and College students in the Gujarati Community. Our mission is to improve access to post-secondary education for students in the Gujarati community. We aspire to break down the barriers for those facing economic or social restrictions, and to encourage a high level of student achievement and engagement in the Canadian society.
Through a selection process which qualifies grades, volunteer work, and financial need, we hope to award several students with scholarships to help further their education.
This year we are pleased to announce we will be giving out 6 scholarships for $2,500 each.
We look forward to receiving and reviewing your application. You will be required to download and submit the following documents:
- Scholarship Application
- Application Materials Checklist
- Academic Referee Form
- Community Involvement or Employment Referee
- Record of Volunteer Service
- Volunteer Assessment Form (to be completed by supervisor at volunteer service)

All information received by the review committee will remain confidential.
Please keep in mind the following deadlines:
Deadline:
Section A: Tuesday March 20th, 2012 by 8pm.
Section B: Tuesday May 1st, 2012 by 8pm.
Applicant Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for SMCC Scholarship, you must meet all of the following criteria:
- Full-time student in high school or post secondary institution
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
- Accepted by Canadian post-secondary institution
- Must complete minimum of 10 hours of volunteer work at the Sanatan Mandir
- Must be in financial need. Family income requirement must be $70,000 or lower.
Application Guidelines
- All applications must be typed and submitted in a clear font, at least 12pt.
- Applicants must submit the awards application form online. Supporting documentation may be sent by e-mail or regular mail, or in person.
- Faxed applications and supporting documents will not be accepted.
- Graduating college or university students are not eligible to apply.
- Please ensure that all questions are answered completely. Information supplied for each question must not exceed the allotted space.
- No additional documentation above and beyond required supporting documents will be considered.
- All applications must be handed in or emailed by the deadline. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. It is encouraged to get required documentation from your institution as early as possible, as this must also be submitted before the deadline.
